I was once told that sometimes birds flew under the fishes in a canal and that squirrels towed canal boats! While it is true that birds do fly under aqueducts with water and fish in them (it took me ages to work this out.) canal boats are definitely towed by horses (or donkeys and mules). I’m pretty sure squirrels don’t have the stamina! If you want to dispel any of this kind of rumour and help others learn the basics about canals then this new presentation is for you. All About Canals comes with leader’s notes to guide you through such questions as: what are the differences between canals and rivers, who built canals and how does a lock work? Download the presentation, to be used on an interactive whiteboard or other projector with leader’s notes, from the WOW Resources page, just click on Waterways Today.
