Working with Home Educated children in Leicestershire

Four C's project is in full swing at Foxton Locks - children and young people took part in the Media Workshop on 24th June 2010

British Waterways education team were awarded funding in March 2010, from Leicestershire County Council and Leicestershire City Council as part of The Four C’s project, to work with children and young people. The Four C’s project provides funding to involve children and young people in the planning, delivery and evaluation of projects and programmes. Empowering young people to become informed Consumers, Critics and Creators of arts, creativity and culture. Home educated children and young people, from all over Leicestershire, are taking part in hands on creative learning about the waterways. Workshops include: Traditional Canal Art - Roses & Castle painting, Boat Trips, Pond dipping, historic boats, Film and Photography, Canal Costume, Storytelling, Fun with Maths & Science and Banner making. The children and young people will take part in Foxton Waterways Festival on 14th and 15th August at Foxton Locks where they will demonstrate, through small workshops, what fascinating traditional skills can be learnt about the waterways.
