Cubs, Brownies & Rainbows get active outdoors

It isn't just schools who visit the canals and rivers but many uniformed groups take the challenge and get active outdoors.

Autumn and winter seasons are so amazing outdoors, all the colours and elements just come alive. Get your woollies, boots and waterproofs on and experience it first hand on a canalside walk.

WOW Trails and Water Safety activities are a great way for you to complete your badges.

Many of our activities and resources can help Cub Scouts and Brownies gain their achievement badges.  WOW volunteers have been using the WOW resources to lead uniformed group visits to Hatton Locks near Warwick, Birmingham and Fradley Junction near Lichfield.

1st Coventry (Allesley Village) Cub Pack visited Hatton Locks and took part in the Hatton Locks WOW trail and water safety activities earlier this year.

How to get started;

Search on the WOW website for a ‘Place to Visit’ near you. http://www.wow4water.net/grownups/destinations/

Print out a trail or fact file to follow and learn more about your local canal or river.

Contact us to see if there are any activities or events happening in your area. Email us wow@britishwaterways.co.uk

or log onto the www.waterscape.com website. Waterscape is full of events, activities and ideas for places to visit.

Check out our many water safety activities, available to download and print out or take the Waterside Safety Challenge before your visit. http://www.wow4water.net/grownups/safety

Get outdoors and explore.

And most importantly – HAVE FUN!

Why not take a photograph of your visit, write a short piece telling us what you did, send it in to us and we’ll put it on the website. Send to wow@britishwaterways.co.uk
