Etruria Canal Festival 2009
A smashing weekend
The sun and the crowds were out for the 2009 Eutruria Canal Festival. With boats, engines, music, stalls and art there was something for everyone. Over 800 chidren took part in the WOW activity program and kept us all busy throughout the weekend. Cassie and Katie ran ceramic tile painting over the weekend and luckily only 2 tiles got broken! They even had to run out and get more tiles as the activities were so popular. They finished the weekend along with the IWA volunteers tired and messy! Other WOW activities included looking for clues on boats, brass rubbing and fishing. As part of the Canals for the Community project, funded through the Big Lottery Fund, BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) planted 1000 wildflowers on the site with the help of festival goers to leave behind a lasting memory of a fantastic weekend. Look out for WOW activities at lots more events this summer.
