The sun shines at Saltersford Locks
British Waterways employees had a superb day at Saltersford Locks with Delamere Primary School
Thankfully the sun came out yesterday in full force making Saltersford Locks on the Weaver navigation an idyllic place to spend the day for one entire school. The children of Delamere Primary arrived by bus and walked down to the river along the Trent & Mersey canal. Just as they arrived at the canal, the excited group got to see their first narrow boat emerging from the tunnel. During the day the children took part in lots of activities and learnt more about the area. With the highlight being standing on the enormous lock gates to watch a variety of boats pass through the lock. It was a unique opportunity that allowed the children to really experience how a lock works; a situation which just could not be recreated in the classroom.
